About
Hello, my name is Louise Johnston and I am a physiotherapist working in Cuffley, Hertfordshire.
I qualified as a physiotherapist in 1991 at The Middlesex Hospital School of Physiotherapy and worked for the next ten years in the NHS. I now run my own private clinic in Cuffley, specialising in the treatment of musculo-skeletal problems, persistent or “chronic” pain conditions, sports injuries and arthritic conditions offering manual therapy based around myofascial release, nerve mobilisations and functional exercise rehabilitation.
As a keen amateur bassoon and clarinet player, I have a particular interest in treating playing-related injuries in musicians and am a recognised practitioner of the British Association of Performing Arts Medicine. (BAPAM)
I have trained in myofacial release with John Annan and renowned French osteopath Jean-Pierre Barral and also completed cranio sacral therapy and somato emotional release training with The Upledger Institute which provides a good base for holistic treatments, looking at the person as a whole, not just an injured knee or back.
My most recent training has been with NOI Group, using Graded Motor Imagery and Mirror Therapy to address the role of the brain and nervous system in persistent pain and focal dystonia.
